The Staal Foundation Open is a Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada Event, hosted by the Staal Family Foundation and the NHL’s Staal brothers – Eric, Jordan, Marc and Jared.
Firedog Communications was awarded the Staal Foundation Open contract in 2015 with a mandate to bring the tournament brand and its community impact to a world-class level. We introduced a different approach to their marketing model with new creative, extensive social media, digital marketing, community events, and multiple PR and media programs.
Over the past two years, support from celebrities, the business community and public has been overwhelming. The Staal Foundation Open has become one of the preeminent brands in professional sports and a world-class event.
2017 was the highest attended tournament on the Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada with over $845,000 raised for families and children battling cancer, and more than $4-million in economic activity for Thunder Bay.
