Dilico Christmas Wish Bag Campaign Celebrates a Record Year Filling 800 Wish for Children in Need

Thunder Bay, ON, December 18th, 2017 – Dilico Anishinabek Family Care is celebrating hundreds of Christmas wishes coming true. Today, the organization announced final numbers for its 2017 Christmas Wish Campaign. In total, 800 bags were filled for babies, children and youth in the district of Thunder Bay, the most amount the organization has filled to date.

“Dilico is absolutely thrilled with the outcome of this year’s Christmas Wish campaign. It was the most successful year we’ve had. Meegwetch to everyone that filled a bag or contributed to the initiative. Dilico is overwhelmed with the support and thankful to be able to make so many children’s Christmas wishes come true this holiday season,” says Darcia Borg, Executive Director of Dilico Anishinabek Family Care.

Over the past month, community members, businesses and organizations signed up for a Christmas Wish bag, committing to fill the bag for a child in need. The Dilico Christmas Wish campaign, is unique in the fact that each bag comes with an individualized tag that lists whether the bag is for a boy or girl, their age, interests and likes.

“Dilico elves have been hard at work sorting through all of the 800 bags this past week, and all we can say is wow! So many wonderful gifts for children; From warm clothes to books to sleds, hockey sticks, and huge stuffed animals, thank you to all that participated. You are ensuring a child wakes up on Christmas day with a smile to special gift that will bring so much happiness to their lives,” continues Borg.
